DEPUTY SIMPSON RESPONDED TO A REPORT OF A ONE VEHICLE CRASH WITH MULTIPLE INJURIES ON STATE HWY 77 WEST OF LINDEN RD IN THE COUNTY OF SAWYER. UPON ARRIVAL DEPUTY MET WITH THE CALLER WHO SAID THAT HE WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER IN THE VEHICLE. SAID THAT HIS FRIEND WAS RIDING IN THE UN ENCLOSED BED OF THE PICK-UP TRUCK AND WAS BADLY INJURED. DEPUTY SIMPSON RAN DOWN THE EMBANKMENT AND FOUND THE TRUCK WEDGED IN SOME TREES WITH EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. CODY WAS LYING ON THE GROUND NEXT TO THE TRUCK. SAID THAT WAS STILL IN THE TRUCK AFTER THE CRASH AND MUST HAVE CLIMBED OUT WHILE WAS CHECKING ON THE DRIVER AND OWNER OF THE TRUCK . WAS INSIDE THE TRUCK COMPLAINING OF A BROKEN LEG, ARM, AND JAW. SAID THAT HE WAS THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK AND LOST CONTROL OF THE TRUCK. APPEARED TO HAVE MINOR INJURES AND TRANSPORTED BY HIS MOTHER TP A LOCAL HOSPITAL. FULL AND EMPTY BEER CANS WERE FOUND AT THE SCENE. NEITHER DRIVER NOR PASSENGERS SMELLED OF ALCOHOL. BLOOD WAS TAKEN FROM THE DRIVER AT ST LUKE'S HOSPITAL IN DULUTH, MN. DEPUTY SIMPSON IS STILL WAITING FOR RESULTS.
