ON JULY 4, 2018, I DEPUTY AMBER AL-MOGHRABI WAS WORKING PATROL FOR THE SAWYER COUNTY SHERIFF'S DEPT. AT APPROXIMATELY 14:03 I WAS DISPATCHED TO US HWY 63 NEAR THANNUM FIRE LANE FOR A VEHICLE THAT HAD HIT A DEER AND SOMEONE IN THE VEHICLE WAS INJURED. DISPATCH HAD ADVISED ME THEY ALSO HAD AN AMBULANCE EN ROUTE. I ACTIVATED MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS AND SIREN AND WENT EN ROUTE TO THE CALL. UPON ARRIVAL AT 14:11, THE SAWYER COUNTY AMBULANCE AND MEDIC WERE ON SCENE. AS THE EMTS WERE TALKING TO THE INJURED PARTY I SPOKE TO HIS WIFE, WHO IDENTIFIED HERSELF AS BROOKE DARST RICE. SHE STATED THEY WERE HEADED SOUTHBOUND ON US HWY 63 TRAVELING APPROX 55 MPH WHEN A DEER RAN OUT INTO THE ROAD AND HIT THEM. SHE STATED THEY WERE WEARING THEIR SEATBELTS. I NOTICED THE DEER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHICH WAS ALREADY DECEASED UPON MY ARRIVAL. I SPOKE TO ONE OF THE EMT'S ON SCENE WHO STATED THE MALE DRIVER, IDENTIFIED AS MARK, WAS BLEEDING FROM THE HEAD A LITTLE BIT, BUT HE WAS CLEARED TO NOT HAVE TO BE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. I LOOKED AT THE VEHICLE WHICH HAD A MAJOR DENT ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE HOOD, AND DAMAGE TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS SHATTERED AND THE DRIVER SIDE MIRROR WAS KNOCKED OFF THE VEHICLE. MARK STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS STILL DRIVABLE AND THAT THEY DID NOT WANT A TOW TRUCK. HE ASKED IF HE COULD JUST DRIVE IT TO ERNIE'S AUTOBODY IN TOWN AND LEAVE IT THERE AND THEY WOULD GET A RIDE FROM SOME FAMILY IN TOWN.
