WHILE ON ROUTINE PATROL, I WAS CALLED TO ASSIST INVESTIGATOR POPLIN WITH A ONE VEHICLE PROPERTY DAMAGE CRASH THAT HE HAD CAME ACROSS WHILE ON DUTY. THE DRIVER WAS IDENTIFIED AS . ONCE ON SCENE, THE DRIVER ADVISED SHE HAD FALLEN ASLEEP. THE VEHICLE LEFT THE ROADWAY AND TRAVELED 160 YDS OFF OF THE SOUTHBOUND LANE OF TRAVEL INTO THE SOUTH DITCH OF HIGHWAY 27, STRIKING A TREE AND SHATTERING THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO OCCUPIED BY A 5 YEAR OLD CHILD. THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED BY A-1 TOWING AND DRIVEN AWAY. THE DRIVER DID NOT HAVE INSURANCE AND THE TIRES WERE A CONTRIBUTING FACTOR TO THE CRASH. A CITATION WILL BE MAILED TO THE OPERATOR FOR OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE WITHOUT INSURANCE.
