HAYWARD,WISCONSIN 54843 • Phone(715)634-8288 Email jay.kozlowski@sawyercountygov.org Website: www.sawvercountvqov.orq December 11,2023 Scott Graykowski 968 Stewarton Drive Woodbury,MN 55125 RE:Shipping Container Placement on 9272W Druwe Rd It has come to the attention of the Sawyer County Zoning and Conservation Department that there is a shipping container placed on the property listed above.Shipping containers are treated as accessory structures in Sawyer County.Accessory structures are only allowed on properties that contains a primary dwelling.Furthermore,Land Use Permits(LUP)are required for shipping containers were applicable with a property that already has a primary dwelling.Additionally,new ordinance language was adopted in July 2022 that includes the following: A shipping container/intermodal container,is a large,standardized shipping container or semi-trailer,designed and built for intermodal freight trensport.Shipping containers/intermodal container are to be treated as ACCESSORY STRUCTURES and subject to Land Use Permit requirements.Accessory structures are not allowed on vacant property unless the Conditional Use requirements under 4.26�1�,(2�,or(3)can be met.Shipping containers /intermodal containers are primarily used to store and transport materials and products efficiently and securely in the global containerized intermodal freight trensport system.These containers are known under several names including,but no[limited to,simply container,cargo or freight container,I50 container,semi-trailers,shipping,sea or ocean container,sea van or conex box,container van,sea can,c can,etc.Any Shipping Container/intermodal Container on any lot except zoned Industrial(I-1)or Commercial(C-1)requires Town Approval.More than one(1) Shipping Container/intermodal Container on any lot except zoned Industrial(I-1)or Commercial(C-1)requires Town Approval and a Conditional Use Permit(CUP�.More than three(3)Shipping Container�s�/intermodal Container�s)on lots zoned Industrial(I-1)or Commercial(C-1)requires Town Approval and a Conditional Use Permit(CUP).This would include stacking of these containers.
