Notice is hereby given that on May 19,2023 the Sawyer County Zoning Committee
appioved the Conditional Use Permit#23-011 with conditions.
Property Description: Part of the SW Ya of the SE'/. Lot 2 CSM 33/71 #7964; S09,
T41N, R07W; Parcel #024-741-09-4305; Tax ID #41762; 5.04 total acres; Zoned
Residential/Recreational One (RR-1). Permit desired to: operate a general Gunsmith
Service including disassembly, diagnosing, reassembly, cleaning, repairs, scope &
sighting alignments utilizing bore lasers, removal of stuck cartridges or live rounds,
restorations, and FFL transfers on a limited basis. Business hours: Monday thru Friday,
9am to 2pm by appointment only.No sales of firearms.As per section 17.2(7).
Motion to approve the application with conditions of: 1)CUP#23-011 is limited to the
property owner. 2) Hours of business operation from 9am-2pm, Monday-Friday. 3) All
signage must meet Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance Requirements.4)All other Town,
County,State&Federal Laws are followed.
Findings of Fact:1)It would not be damaging to the rights of others or property values.
2) It would not be detrimental to ecology, wild life, wetlands or shorelands. 3) It would
not create an air quality, water supply, or pollution problem. 4). It would not create
topographical problems such as run off,drainage,erosion,flooding,or vegetative cover
removal. 5) It would not create traffic or highway access problems. 6. It would not
destroy prime agricultural lands.7)It would be compatible with the surrounding uses and
the area.8). It would be consistent with the Town and/or County Comprehensive Plan.
9) It would not create an objectionable view. Roll call finds: Hessel—yes, Wilson—no,
Shuman—yes, Buckholtz—yes,Maestri—yes. 4 to 1 in favor.
Any person or persons jointly aggrieved by the decision of the Zoning Committee may
commence an appeal action to the Sawyer County Board of Appeals at their expense to "
review the legality of the decision within 30 days after the date of this notice.

Request: Pennit requested to operate a general Gunsmith Service as per Sawyer County Zoning
Ordinance Section 17.2(7) for a "professional office and studios and Sec 17.2(3) for a"sports
shop or other recreational service-oriented use'".
Project History & Summary of Request: Per the applicant's stateinent, activities will include
disassembly, diagnosing, reassembly, cleaning,repairs, scope&sighting alignments utilizing bore
lasers,reinoval of stuck cartridges or live rounds,restorations, and Federal Firearms License(FFL)
to transfers firearms on a limited basis. There will not be direct sales of firearms from this location.
However, this request does include the applicant obtaining an FFL which is handled through The
Bureau of Alcohol,Tobacco, Fireanns and Explosives(ATF). The ATF requires a property to have
an established business use on the property before authorizing a FFL. Tlle main intent for the
applicant to obtain the FFL would be to serve as a distributor for online purchases. When
individuals purchase fireanns online it must be sent to a FFL holder who then releases the firearm
after proper authorization. This process is strictly regulated by the ATF.
Business hours are specified as Monday thru Friday, 9am to 2pin by appointment only.
The request is just to run the actual business out of the existing house on the property. Future plans
may include an additional storage building if setbacks allow but no additional buildings are
proposed at this time. The CUP is being requested to operate a professional office and business
with a similar use to a sports shop which provides gunsmithing services.
Additional information for Conditional Use Permits:
Substantial evidence means facts and infonnation, other than merely personal preferences
or speculation, directly pertaining to the requirements and conditions an applicant must meet to
obtain a conditional use permit and that reasonable persons would accept in support of a
conclusion. If an applicant agrees to meets all of the requirements and conditions specified in the
county ordinance or those imposed by the county zoning board, the county shall gant the
conditional use permit. Any condition imposed must be related to the purpose of the ordinance
and be based on substantial evidence. The conditions inust be reasonable and, to the extent
practicable, measurable. The applicant must demonstrate that the application and all
requirements and conditions established by the county relating to the conditional use are or shall
be satisfied, both of which must be supported by substantial evidence. The county's decision to
approve or deny the pennit must be supported by substantial evidence.

NOTICE OF TOWN MEETINGS AND ZONING COMMITTEE PUBLIC HEARING DATE

Your application for a Conditional Use will be considered at several different meetings.You
should first contact the Town Board for their review. Some Towns also have a Planning
Commission.Please contact the Town Clerk,Kathy McCoy at 715-462-9508 or email at
town@townofroundlakewi.org for the day and time of the Planning Commission and Town
Board meetings for your attendance or the attendance of your agent.
The Sawyer County Zoning Committee will hold its Public Hearing on May 19,2023. This
Hearing will begin at 8:30 A.M.in the Sawyer County Courthouse,10610 Main Street,
Hayward,Wisconsin.
It is recommended that either you or a representative be present at the Town meetings and
Zoning Committee Public Hearing. Enclosed is virtual attendance information.A lack of
information about the application may result in an unnecessary delay of a decision. Failure to
appear may also result in the denial or tabling of the application and may result in additional
fees.
If it is impossible for you or a representative to be present,please submit a written statement
directed to Jesse Boettcher,Chairman of the Zoning Committee addressed to this office.The
statement should include your proposed intentions or purpose of the request and a description
of the general terrain and surrounding development.Indicate how the proposal would not be
contrary to the public interest. Photographs of the property and surrounding area are
encouraged.
PLEASE NOTE:If approval is grented,a permit may be required. Land Use Applications may be
obtained from the Zoning Office or our website.
