Sawyer County Property Address Policies
1. The Fire Number Application must be filed before receiving a County Land Use
Permit for new construction.
2. The County Wide 911 Emergency System requires that each parcel with a principle building
improvement must have a fire number/property address.
3. Prior to submitting Fire Number Application on a State Highway or County Trunk Highway you
must also provide copy of DOT or County Hwy "Driveway PermiP'.
4. It may take up to 8 weeks to receive the property address. The applications are picked up
every week and then GPS points are taken in the field. The address number is assigned.
The signs are ordered and it may take 4 weeks for delivery. Diggers hotline must be called
1 week before installing the post. Once utilities locate underground cables, the sign is
installed. The property owner will be contacted by telephone with the property number aRer
it is assigned.
5. The property owner is responsible for maintenance of the sign & post. Replacement signs
are available by filing a replacement sign application and remitting a fee. Sawyer County
will not re-install or move signs for the convenience of the property owner.
6. Sawyer County is not responsible to assign and install any numbers on parcels that may be
missing a property address. Upon discovery that the property has no number, the property
owner shall file an application for a New Number and Sign and remit the fee.
7. There is a moratorium on changing road names. To avoid duplication of road names within
the County, please check the County Road Index in the Land Records Department of the
County Courthouse before changing existing road names or naming new roads.
8. Each single unit dwelling and/or commercial business building shall be assigned an
address.
a. Each duplex dwelling shall be assigned one address number for the building with
uniUapartment numbers for each unit.
b. A multiple unit dwelling that encompasses three or more separate units shall have one
address number for the building and uniUsuite/apartment numbers for each unit.
c. Single ownership condominiumttownhouse units shall have one address number for the �
complex with unit numbers for each unit.
d. Business complexes housing rented space within the building or single ownership
businesses within a complex shall be assigned one address number for the
building/complex with uniUsuite numbers for each business.
e. UniUSuite/Apartment numbers shall be numbers. Alphabetical letters are prohibited.
9. Property address application fees will only be refunded if the property address has not been
assigned.

This agreement, signed by owner of property attached, hereby certifies that the requested bunkhouse or temporary guest quarters
meets the requirements as specified in the Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance Section 426(4) including:
The independent stand-alone Bunkhouse Accessory Structure does not exceed 250 square feet of footprint measured as the
exterior wall. The creation of walled off bedroom areas are prohibited. Enclosed porches and entryways will be included in the square
footage not to exceed 250; decks will not be included in these amounts. NO other Accessory Structure components allowed as part of
this structure (i.e. r�o garage portion, no bathroom portion, etc.). Plumbing of the Bunkhouse Accessory Structure is prchibited. Cooking
and Food Preparation facilities are prohibited. A Bunkhouse shall require a voluntary Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) Inspection. The
height limit of tY�e Bunkhouse Accessory Structure shall not excee� sixteen (16) feet from lowest grade to highest peak. Leasing, rental or
use as a residence is strictly prohibited.
Temqorary Guest Quarters which are located within or as part of an Accessory Structure shall not exceed 50 percent of the gross
floor area of the accessory structure with a maximum of 499 square feet of temporary guest area. Guest areas including bathrooms,
utility rooms, entryways, and closets will be included in the square footage not to exceed 499. The creation of walled off bedroom
areas z,re �roi�iuiiea. Siuraye area musi be separa4e and segregated from any guest area (can have a door from the guest area to the
storage area). Plumbing, if installed, in the Temporary Guest Quarters Accessory Structure shall conform to the State & Sawyer
County Sanitary Codes. If there is an existing Private Onsite Wastewater Treatment System (POWTS) on the lot it must be sized to
handle the number of occupants in the Temporary Guest Quarters. Cooking and Food Preparation Facilities are prohibited. A
Temporary Guest Quarters Accessory Structure or bunkhouse shall require a voluntary Uniform Dwelling Code (UDC) Inspection.
Leasing, rental or use as a residence is strictly prohibited.
The owner(s) further agrees to allow authorized representatives of the Governmental Unit to enter onto the owner's property at the
above description between the hours of 8:OOAM and 6:OOPM, Monday through Friday. [Section 9.13(1) POWERS, Sawyer County
Zoning Ordinance] to determine if Bunkhouse Accessory Structures or Temporary Guest Quarters meet specified ordinance
requirements and may be subject to internal inspection by the Sawyer County Zoning Department.
Violation of this Agreement will authorize, in addition to other penalties and relief required under the Sawyer County Zoning
Ordinance, injunctive relief, restoration of said property, citation for Falsifying Permit Applications. All parties agree that this Agreement
shall be filed with the Sawyer County Zoning & Conservation Department and recorded with the Sawyer County Register of Deeds. The
property is subject to this Agreement in perpetuity, regardless of ownership transfer.
