Lot 2, Section 10, T41N, R9W Town of Lenroot, Sawyer County, Wisconsin Dear Mr. Kafura: Cooper Engineering Company, Inc., was retained by Mr. Tim Vergara to complete a wetland ' delineation of his property on Smith Creek. Mr. Vergara requested that the wetlands on the property be delineated to determine if there was enough upland available to develop the site. At ; the present time, the property is an undeveloped wooded parcel. Maps in Attachment 1 show the ' general property location on a Sawyer County plat book page, aerial photograph, and USGS ; topographic quadrangle map. The Wisconsin Wetland Inventory map is in Attachment 2. The ; NRCS soil map and descriptions are in Attachment 3. ': On September 29, 2006, Cooper Engineering perfarmed an onsite wetland delineation over the entire 2,77-acre parcel. Wetland boundaries delineated in the field were determined using the guidelines set forth in the 1987 Corps of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual. The wetland � delineation was performed rather late in the growin� season but the vegetation in the area of the delineation was easily identifiable when making the dominance determinations at each sample ; plot. The vegetation, soils, and hydrology were observed and recorded along one transect at ' three sample plots and various soil probe stations established along the transect to assist in determining the wetland/upland transition boundary. Wetland boundaries identified in the field were marked using fluorescent pink stake flags with the words "wetland delineation" printed on them and fluorescent pink ribbon tied in the vegetation near the boundary flag. The approximate wetland delineation data points and boundaries were plotted over an aerial photograph of the property (Attachm�nt 4). It is the intention of Mr. Vergara to have APEX Surveying of ' Hayward, Wisconsin, map the wetland boundary with conventional survey equipment for future mapping and reference. I Mr. Dave Kafizra October 16, 2006 Page 2 The wetland community types identified on the property were determined by the dominant vegetation and soils present in each representative sample plot The wetland communities present on the property consist of primarily an alder thicket wetland on the fringe of a large conifer bog wetland (Tl/PC). The wetlands appear to be native communities hydraulically connected to Smith Creek. Results from the wetland delineation indicate that wetland communities are established on a majority of the parcel except for a narrow strip of upland on the southeni portion of the parcel. ' In addition, access from CTH T to the upland portion of the property is not possible due to the presence of wetlands extending across the entire east side of the property. In order to gain access to the property, it will be necessary to obtain the necessary permits from the appropriate regulatory agencies with jurisdiction over the wetlands on the property.
