RE: Parcel .5.2, S 22, T 38N, R 08 W, Town of Couderay: Violation—Improper Disposal
of Domestic Waste
Dear Mr. Darflinger:
On Monday, May 17, 1999 I visited your property regarding a complaint that waste from
your travel trailer was being disposed of into the ground. The complaint stated that there
was a PVC pipe connected to the trailer with the other end buried in the ground. I
verified that the complaint was valid.
The State private sewage system code requires that domestic waste be disposed of into a
properly functioning waste disposal system In a rural situation this would be a properly
functioning septic system. The citation fee for violating this requirement is $455.00.
Additionally, this office has no record of either a certified soil being performed on your
property for a septic system or that a septic system has ever been installed on the
property.
Mr. Darflinger, I did not observe any utilities (i.e., electricity, well etc.) on the property.
Therefore, you may be able to satisfy the waste disposal requirement with the installation
of a privy (outhouse). A certified soil test must be performed if you were to install a "pit
privy". However, a certified soil test would not be required if you were to install a sealed
vault privy.
