Dear Mr. and Mrs. Korthals:
On Monday, March 13, 2000, I addressed a complaint that you have been, or are
intending on, using the second story of your garage for habitation.
Upon making an inspection of your properry, I fou�d that the complaint might be valid.
It was noted that the second story appears to be finished with tongue and groove pine
and insulated.
The purpose of this let[er is to inform you that the use of the garage's second story for
the purposes stated above is not a customary accessory use associated with either the
garage, the home or the Residential/Recreational One (RR-1) zone district, and that this
use shall not be permitted. While the garage itself is considered to be an appropriate
use, and while the second story of the garage may be used for storage or other garage
related activities, the use of the second story for other intended purposes is not
allowable.
In order to comply with what are considered to be customary accessory uses, any other
intended uses must not be completed or constructed.
Please contact this office if you have any questions or comments. Office hours are 8:00

On October 21, 1997, [he Sawyer County Boazd of AppeaLs approved as amended your
application for a variance on the following described real estate to wit:
Part Govt Lot 2, S 25, T 41N, R 9W, Parcel :2.2. WD Vol 231 Records
Page 110. Property contains 2.36 acres. Property is zoned Residen-
tiaURecreational One (RR-1). Application is for the construction of a
26'x28' detached garage at a setback of 44' from the ordinary high-water
mazk of Round Lake. Variance is requested as Section 4.49 (1), Sawyer
County Zoning Ordinance, would require a setback of 75' from the lake.
Town Boazd has denied the application.
The Boazd of Appeals approved the application aznended as follows: Gazage is to be built
a mv»mum of 60' from the ordinary high water mark of the lake.
Findings of Fact of the Board of Appeals: It would not be the basis of economic gain or
loss. It would not be a self-created hazdship. There would be no change in t6e use in the
zone district. It would be due [o special conditions unique to the property.
Any person or persons jointly aggrieved by this decision of the Boazd of AppeaLs may
commence an action in the Circuit Court for Writ of Certiorari to review the legality of
this decision within 30 days after the date of this notice.
