On October 15, 2002, the Sawyer County Board of Appeals approved your application for vari-
ance on the following described real estate to wit:
Lots 1-6, Block 18, Janesville Beach Subdivision, S 30, T 40N, R 8W, Parcels —
10.18.1-6. Vol 723 Records Page 220. 100'x180' containing .414 acres. Property is
zoned Residential/Recreational One. Application is for the construction of an ir-
regularly shaped 34'x44' single story addition onto an existing d�velling at a set-
back distance of 3'4" from a rear lot line. Variance is requested as Section 18.4,
Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance, would require a minimum setback distance of
40' from the rear lot line. The Town Board has approved the application.
The Board of Appeals approved the application with the condition that the property owner has a
surveyor survey and flag the rear lot line from the public reserve strip.
Findings of Fact of the Board of Appeals: It would not be a self-created hardship. There would be
no change in the use in the zone district. It would not be damaging to the rights of others or prop-
erty values.
Any person or persons jointly aggrieved by this decsion of the Board of Appeals may commence
an action in the Circuit Court for Writ of Certiorari to review the legality of this decision within
30 days after the date of this notice. In future correspondence, or in applying for permits, please
refer to Variance 02-033.

Dear Mr. Schobel:
I have enclosed the following documents with this letter:
• Inspection Report for the above property and a completed
• "Variance Application."
You should review the variance application for correctness, sign it, and return it to this
office with a check in the amount of $250.00 made out to the "Sawyer County Zoning
Administration" by Friday, September 6, 2002 for hearings in October 2002.
I talked to Claude Riglemon this morning. He informed me the assessed value for the
dwelling is $ 137,300. This converts to a current estimated fair market value (CEFMV) of
$ 136,000 with a 50% CEFMV of $68,000. During my visit of August 15th I you told me
that the cost of the addition would be approximately $65,000. Therefore, a 50% CEFMV
variance is not required.
Your "Variance Application" will be reviewed at two public hearings. The first hearing
will held by the Town of Bass Lake at 6:30 P.M., Monday, October 14, 2002. You
should contact Shirley A. Miller, Town of Bass Lake Clerk, at (715) 634-2172 (home) to
confirm this date.
The Sawyer County Board of Appeals will hold the second hearing at 7:00 P.M.,
Tuesday, October 15, 2002, in the large courtroom located in the Sawyer County
Courthouse. You or your representative should attend each hearing, especially the
hearing conducted by the Sawyer County Board of Appeals. Only the Board of Appeals
can grant the variance, the decision of the Town of Bass Lake is advisory only.
It is your responsibility to convince the Board of Appeals to grant the variance that you
have requested. Therefore, you should consider using any means at your disposal (i.e.,
photographs, drawings, a good verbal presentation, etc.) as you present your facts to the
Board.

Sawyer Counry Zoning Board of Appeals on
15 October 2002
This hearing will begin at 7:00 P.M. in the Sawyer County Courthouse, 10610 Main
Street, Hayward, Wisconsin.

to this office directed to Arvid H. Vallem, Chairman of the Board of Appeals. This
statement should include a description of the general terrain; surrounding development;

and/or buildings are requested. Explain the undue zoning hardship inflicted upon the
owner by conforming to the required minirnum regulation, which induced the variance
request. Convenience and fmancial loss or gain does not constitute a zoning hardship.
