The Board of Appeals approved the amended application as follows: Setback distance of 63'

Findings of Fact:It would not be the basis of economic gain or loss.There would be no change in
the use in the zone district.It would not be damaging to the rights of others or property values.It

• Lot size across road is 180 x 100 feet (18,000 square feet). '/2 of the lot is cleared, the other half is wooded.
The garage would be built on the cleared portion of the lot.
• Lake Drive behind the lot is a seldom used dirt road (1 car a day average) and is shielded from the back of
the lot by a tree line.
• Poplar Ave., the road between the cabin and the proposed garage site is black top and on the busiest day
may have a car every 15 minutes.
• In the '/4 mile stretch of Poplar Ave. there are two existing garages build across the road from the main
cabin, which works well for them. It keeps the lake front from looking cluttered with boats and trailers, etc.
• Several boats are currently stored on the lot, which are intended to be stored in the proposed garage thereby
enhancing the appearance of the neighborhood. The garage would be of quality construction.
• I have owned the property for �14 years and would like to eventually retire permanently to the cabin.

RE:Application for a Variance for the Construction of a Detached Garage
Dear Mr.Hartung:
I have enclosed the following documents with this letter:
• Inspection Report for the above property and a completed
• "Vaziance Application."
You should review the inspection report and the variance application for conectness.
Then,if the application is correct,you must sign the application,and return it to this
office with a check in the amount of$250.00 made out to the"Sawyer County Zoning
Administration"by Friday,June 7,2002 for hearings in July 2002.
Your"Variance Application"will be reviewed at two public hearings.The first hearing
will held by the Town of Bass Lake at 6:30 P.M.,Monday,July 8,2002. You should
contact Shirley A.Miller,Town of Bass Lake Clerk,at(715)634-2172(home)to confirm
this date.
The Sawyer County Boazd of Appeals will hold the second hearing at 7:00 P.M.,
Tuesday,July 16,2002,in the large courtroom located in the Sawyer County Courthouse.
You or your representative should attend each hearing,especially the hearing conducted
by the Sawyer County Board of Appeals. Only the Board of Appeals can grant the
variance,the decision of the Town of Bass Lake is advisory only.
It is your responsibility to convince the Boazd of Appeals to grant the variance that you
have requested. Therefore,you should consider using any means at your disposal(i.e.,
photographs,drawings,a good verbal presentation,etc.)as you present your facts to the
Board.

County Zoning Board of Appeals on
July 16, 2002
This hearing will begin at 7:00 P.M. in the Sawyer County Courthouse, 10610 Main
Street, Hayward, Wisconsin.
It is recommended that either you or a representative be present at the Hearing. A lack of
information about the situation may result in unnecessary delay of a decision. Failure to
appear may result in the denial of the application.
If it is impossible for a representative to be present, please submit a written statement to
this office directed to Arvid H. Vallem, Chairman of the Board of Appeals. This
statement should include a description of the general tenain; surrounding development;
your proposed intentions; and the purpose of the request. Photographs of the property
and/or buildings are requested. Explain the undue zoning hardship inflicted upon the
owner by conforming to the required minimum regulation, which induced the variance
request. Convenience and financial loss or gain does not constitute zoning hardship.
