Re: Change in Zone District Public Hearing January I6,2004
Mr. Bassett-The purpose of my written request for this hearing is because I probably will
not be present at the hearing. We request a rezone for this property because it is presently
commercial and we wish to build a cabin on it in the next year or two. There was a house
on the property and we tore it down this past summer. The previous owner apparently
had it zoned commercial as he was going to establish some sort of business there.
The property consists of a triangulaz wedge of about 4.5 acres bordered by Highway
70 on the south side and County B on the west. It is basically flat and generally wooded
except for the area once occupied by the former house-about one acre is open,I would
say. Also,the utiliry company has a right of way and overhead wires iransect the
property I have included a sketch with this memo showing the surrounding area.
Johannsen's is across County B and there is a cabin to the north along B,carved from
what was once part of our property. T'here is a small substation on the south side of 70
and a little bit east. Otherwise,there aren't any other buildings close by.
There is no hardship with the present zoning except we need it to be residential to
buitd a cabin. I believe a rezone of our property would be compatible with the
surrounding area which has other cabins and dwellings not far away. Johannsen;s is the
only business in the area.
Please consider our request. I will make it if I can but in the event I can't,hopefully
this memo and description will serve to clarify our request.

Your application for a Change in Zone District will be considered at a Public Hearing
before the Sawyer County Zoning Committee on January 16,2004.
This Hearing will begin at 9:00 A.M. in the Sawyer County CouRhouse, 10610 Main
Street,Hayward,Wisconsin.
It is recommended that either you or a representative be present at the Hearing.A lack of
information about the application may result in unnecessary delay of a decision. Failure to
appear may also result in the denial of the application.
If it is impossible for a representative be present,please submit a written statement in care
of this office directed to James Bassett, Chairman of the Zoning Committee. This
statement should include your proposed intentions, the purpose of the request, and a
description of the general terrain and surrounding development. Photographs of the
property and/or buildings would be beneficial. Indicate the undue hardship inflicted upon
the owner by conforming to the present zone district and the compatibility ofthe proposed
use with the surrounding land uses. Convenience and financial loss or gain does not
constitute zoning hardship.
Your application will come before the Town Board for their review.Please contact
