I am withdrawing my campground conditional use permit request for the property formerly owned by Vernon Gest as the Lake Access restrictions make the project financially unfeasible. I cannot say for sure if or when the Committee may review the shoreland access requirement, however, I will read your e-mail into the record on the 17tn I assume that your response is a withdrawal of the application for a conditional use permit to create the campground on the Vernon Gest property. To ensure that there is no misunderstanding, I would ask that you send me an e-mail requesting that the application be withdrawn. I can understand wanting to limit boat traffic, but when you said only 6 campsites could use the beach and go swimming, it no longer made sense to make this investment. With Lake Frontage going for over$1000 per foot and with these Lake Access restrictions, it simply isn't financially feasible to buy or build a campgrounds in Sawyer county. Therefore, I have decided to invest in a different county and will be selling my land here. I'm very disappointed things turned out this way. After our last meeting, a local resident told me the story about Mirco (sp?) Nelson and how he established Nelson Lake for public use. She encouraged me to fight to open a 3/10/2006 Page 2 of 2 campgrounds for the public.I did consult two real estate attorneys and they both said we would have a strong case regarding the unenforceability of the lake access regulations, but it would cost more time and money than I cared to spend. Therefore,I will simply sell the land and move-on to a more business friendly location. I would like to thank you and the board for your consideration of my request. If the board should decide to revise their regulations regarding campgrounds and lake access, please let me know as I do love the Hayward area and would like to create additional camping opportunities for families in Western Wisconsin.
