Jerry's re-zone application: August 8, 2006 Steven Jerry appeared at the Town Board meeting this date to request that the Weirgor Town Board approve his request to re-zone approximately 6.5 acres bordering South Lake from Agl and Fl to RR1 . Richard A. Peterson was also present at this meeting. Prior to this meeting, Loretta Goins and her brother, Don Gordon, contacted us town board members separately stating that they were not in support of the re-zoning application. Approximately two years ago, Steven Jerry had requested the same re-zoning application. At that time, we (the Town Board) approved his application at the town level. The County Zoning committee denied his application, however. We, the Weirgor Town Board, feel that because it is Steven's property, that he has paid taxes on it for many years, that he should have the opportunity to sell it (in lots or as in whole). In the past there have been several other Weirgor land owners who have applied for the same type of re-zoning. We have always granted those people our approval to do this as well. Thank you. Vol 88 Records Page 271. Approximately 6.5 acres to be rezoned out of the total 36.81 acres. Change from District Agricultural One and Forestry One to District ResidentiaURecreational One. Purpose of request is for the development of residential lots, meeting the lake Class #3 dimensional requirements. The Town Board has approved the application with additional comments. The Sawyer County Zoning Committee denied the rezone application as submitted. Findings of Fact of the Zoning Committee: It would be damaging to the rights of others or property values. It would be detrimental to ecology, wild life, wetlands or shorelands. It would not be compatible with the surrounding uses and the area. It would be spot zoning. The Sawyer County Board of Supervisors must ratify the denial of the change in zone district before it becomes final. This will be scheduled for the County Board meeting on September 21, 2006, 6:30 P.M., in the Circuit Courtroom of the Sawyer County Courthouse. This decision is a recommendation to the County Board of Supervisors. Any person or persons jointly aggrieved by the decision of the County Board may commence an action with the Sawyer County Board of Appeals to review the decision in whole or in part, within thirty(30) days after the filing of the decision in the office of the Committee.
