Property Location & Legal Description:
Town of Sand Lake. Village of Stone Lake Original Plat, entire Block 2; S 19, T39N, R09W;
Parcel #026-188-02-0001 ; Tax ID#27157; Zoned Residential One (R-1 ); 1 .956 total acres.
Request: The request is desired for Multi-family dwelling units that meets dimensional
requireinents as per Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance Sec 17.1 (B) (1 ) for a total of(4) dwelling
units. Also, for a semi-public use as a recreation area for community base rental space as per
Section 17.1 (B) (4).
Project History & Summary of Request
The applicant is requesting to "repurpose'" the existin Stone Lake School building to be used as
a 4-unit multi fainily dwelling. This type of request would still limit the number of dwelling units
in that each dwelling-unit would need a minimuin of 10,000 sq ft of land area for properties that
would have a municipal sewer service. The proposed request would be for a 4-unit dwelling
developinent and would require approval of the CUP.
The CUP request is also for "semi-public ' recreational area. In conversations with the applicant
they would like to repurpose the old gynnasium of the school to be used as a gathering hall or
conmunity-based rental. This type of use would need to still be limited to a semi-public use and
if tlle use was to change to a "private-event'' then the applicant would need to rezone the property
to commercial. Currently the gym is being rented as a pickleball location and the applicant would
like to continue to use that space for those types of rentals. This use would fall in line with Section
17. 1 (B)(4).
