The site inspection revealed portions of the praject were in various stages of complet�on. A section of new driveway had been constructed, a new ga�age slab poured, ar,d a sept�c �ank had been set, but no� backfilled. Ken LaCoy (contractor) stated the new garage was being const�ucted within the ioo:prir.t of an existirlg ga�age and that :ie d:d z1o� know wetlands were located adjacent to the construction site. Based on an evaluation of tne soils, it appeared a portion of garage was located on old fil-� material placed over hydric soil . The area north/northeast of the garage azld se�tyc tanlc met wetlar.d criteria according to the Corps of Engineers We�land Delin�ation Mar.ual and i�C/N� Regional Suppiemer.t . It appeared a small amount of fill had been temporarily placed in the wetlands for the installa;_.ion of the septic tank_ I advised the cortrac�or of tne wet��and boundary ar.d recommended �he �ill material be puiled back and removed from the wetland as soon as passible. I also recommended silt fence be installed along the edge of the corstruction site and wetland boundary and remain in place untii the site is stabiiized. It is recommended that either you or a representative be present at the Hearing. A lack of information about the situation may result in unnecessary delay of a decision. Failure to appear may result in the denial of the application. If it is impossible for a representative to be present, please submit a written statement to this office directed to Alan Gerber, Chairman of the Board of Appeals. This statement should include a description of the general terrain; surrounding development; your proposed intentions; and the purpose of the request.
