• COMM 53.63 The T7UPro 150 joists must be installed according to the manufacturer instructions in Trus Joist
MacMillan Bulletin 2040 with particular attention to the joist bearin;connection and blocking. Substitution of
a different product or a different manufacturer is not allowed without resubmittal of structural calculations.
• COMM 54.12(1)(cA drinking facility should be added in the public corridor on the lower level.
• COMl�t 57A 1(2)(a)1. The ceiling membrane for the lower level is required to be fastened to or suspended from
the framing member in the same manner as a 1-hour fire-resistive rated assembly.
• COMM 57.07(3) The spiral stairs for the unit meuanines are allowed as [he area served by each is fess than
400 square feec The stair manufacnuer is to be advised prior to fabrication that the Wisconsin Administrative
Code applies to this installation,with particulaz note of minimum tread width and maximum riser heivht
requirements. Installation is to follow manufacturer recommendations includin;clearances from adjacent walls.
• Comm 57.16(1)(b)5. Provide a smoke detector in each individual bedroom or sleeping room in the locations
indicated by this section.
• COMM �7.17(l)(a) A manual fire alarm system is required in[his buildin�as i[can accommodate 20 or more
perso�s (see s. COMM 51.24).
• COMM SZ L8 F'ue extinguishers are required to be provided and located as shown in Table 57.13 (also see s.
COMM 51.22). Placement should be, at a minimum, in the Iower level corridor and the upper level vending
area.
• COMM 57.85 -Light switches, e(ectrical outlets, thermostats and other env'vonmental controls shall be located
no higher than 48 inches nor lower than 15 inches above the flooc Where a person is required to reach over an
obstruction 20 -25 inches in depth, maximum height is reduced to 44 inches for fonvard wheelchair approach

and 46 inches for a side approach. (Note: For purposes of this section,a room air conditioner IS considered an
env'vonmental conh�ol). .
• COMM 50.12 This review does not include hea[ing, ventilating or air conditioning. The owner should be
reminded that HVAC plans, calculations, a complered SBD-I I8 application form and appropriate fees aze
required to be submitted for review and approval prior to installation.
• COMM 63A l Prior to installation, li�hting plans and calculations shafl be prepared in compliance with the
code and property si�ed and sealed. The plans shall be available at the job site as requested by the Deparcment
representative or local official.
• Submit,prior ro installation,d sets of properly signed and sealed fire alarm plans, a completed SB-1 I S
application form includin�this transaction number as a previous nansaction, a building plan bearing the a�ency
stamp of approval or signed and sealed by[he building desig�er with a notation that the plans aze an exact
duplicate of the approved building plans, and appropriate fees to either:
• Safefy& Buildings,P.O. Box 7162,Madison Wi. 53707-7162 or
• Safety& Buildings 401 Pilot Court,Waukesha, WI 53188.
• A review appoin[ment may be made in advance by faxing a completed SB-118 form to 877-840-9172.
• Submit 4 sets of properly signed and sealed truss plans, a completed SB-1 18 application form including this
transaction number and signed by the building designer, and 5100 submictal fee to this office prior to truss
instal lation.
A copy of the approved plans, specifications and this letter shall be on-site durin�consuvction and open to
inspection by authorized representatives ofthe Department, which may include local inspectors. All permits
required by the state or the local municipatiry shall be obtained prior ro commencement of
c o nstruction/insta I I at ion/o pe ratio n.
In �anting this approval the Division of Safery& Buildings reserves the ri�ht to require changes or additions should
conditions azise making them necessary for code compliance. As per state stau 101.12(2),nothing in this review
shall relieve the designer of the responsibiliry for desig�ing a safe building,structure,or component.
