Re: Violation of Section 6.37, Sawyer County Zonig Ordinance: More Than Two
Inoperable/[Tnlicensed Vehicles on the Property
Dear Mr. Bong:
Yesterday I visited your properiy regarding an enquiry concerning the number of
inoperable /unlicensed vehicles located on your property. See the attached inspection
report. During my visit I observed a total of sixteen (16) vehicles on the properry of Yhese
16 vehicles it appeazs that:
• 6 have cunent plates displayed (regulaz or collector plates)
• 10 eithei appeaz to be inoperable or do not display current (not expired)
plates.
Based on my observations there is a violarion of Section 637, Sawyer County Zoning
Ordinance. I am sure that you aze awaze of the ordinance requirements pertaining to the
placement of inoperable/unlicensed and antique/hobby vehicles on your property.
However, I have attached a copy of the pertinent ordinance sections any way.
Mr. Bong, your property is to be in compliance by Friday, November 12, 2004. Failure to
attain compliance by that date shall result in the issue of a citation in the amount of
$642.50. As a part of that citation I shall request that the Sawyer County Circuit Court
assess a daily fine of$25.00 until compliance is attained.

Re:Actions Taken by the Sawyer County Zoning Committee
Deaz Mr.Bong:
The issue of the vehicles on your property was discussed at today's public hearing of the
Sawyer County Zoning Committee. The Committee was addressed by the Brueggens and
members of the Town Boazd. Based on the information presented, the Committee has
decided that:
. I issue a citation to you if the Land Use Permit application is not returned
to this office by Tuesday,November 23,2004. A plan shall be provided
with the application that cleazly indicated your intentions(i.e.,the
proposed location of the"collection",screening location and type of
materials etc.).
• The Committee,at a public heazing, will review the permit application
for compliance with the Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance prior to its
issue by this office. As with all applications received by this office, you
should not automatically assume that a permit will be issued.
• The screening required by Section 6.36 will be appropriate for a
residential neighborhood. The existing screening is not appropriate.
• Section 636 provides an exemption for any person engaged in collecting
and refurbishing vehicies. Section 636 does not provide an exemption
only for collecting vehicles. The question was asked if you have ever
refurbished any of the vehicles that have been placed on your property.
Have you refurbished any vehicles since 1994?
• Also,Section 6.32(5),Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance states:
632 LOCATIONAL CRITERIA
No person shall establish onerate maintain orpermit the use of propertv
for salvae within the following areas:
1) Within 1,000 feet of any navigable lake, pond,ar flowage.
2) Within 300 feet of a navigable river oi stream.
3) Within a floodplain.
          4) VJithin a wetland or cxitical habitat area.
, .
5) Within anv area from which the Zoning Administrator after -
inveshgation finds there is a reasonable probability that oil as
antifreeze or a li uid material leaclun therefrom ma have a detrimental
effect on any surface water or roundwater or the environment
The Committee insists, and rightfully so, that the contamination issue be
thoroughly addressed and that they be made a condition of the issue of the
permit.
Since you are presently "collecting" vehicles without a properly issued permit by this
office, additional "collector" type vehicles shall not be placed on your property.
Please contact this office if you have any questions or comments. Office hours are 8:00
A.M. to 4:00 P.M, Monday through Friday.
Sincerely yours,
Ll/ L%i.
