Notice is hereby given that on November 17, 2005 the Sawyer County Zoning Committee
approved the following application:

existing condominium unit number five (lodge) of Grindstone Lake Condo. The
Town Board has approved.
The Sawyer County Zoning Committee approved the application for no more than 4 units
as requested, condo plat to be updated and recorded.
Findings of Fact of the Zoning Committee: It would be within the Town of Bass Lake
plan. It would not be damaging to the ri�;hts of others or property values. It would not be
detrimental to ecology, wildlife, wetlands or shorelands. It would be compatible with
surrounding uses and the area.
The approval of the conditional use will expire on November 17, 2006, if application for
the actual permit to use/construct is not made by that date.
Any person or persons jointly aggrieved by the decision of the Zoning Committee may
commence an action with the Sawyer County Board of Appeals to review the decision in
whole or in part, within thirty (30) days a.fter the filing of the decision in the office of the
Committee.

Dear Mr. Butterbaugh:
Today an inspector from this office observed that construction activities have begun on
the "Lodge." We assume that these activities are related to creating the four dwelling
units within that building. The purpose of this letter is to remind you that permits must
be issued by this office for the creation of those units. Commencing construction prior to
the issue of permits is a violation of the Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance ($438.00
citation fee) and also requires that a double permit fee be paid. Additionally, the Zoning
Committee's conditional use permit approval expires on November 17, 2006. Permits
must be applied for by that date.
Please contact this office if you have any questions or comments. Office hours are 8:00
A.M. to 4:00 P.M, Monday through Friday.

located at 7901N Indian Drive and surrounding property.) We have objections but not to
changes in the property land use by making the"currenY'lodge and baz into
condominiums.
Our objections are the following:
Granting permit's either now or in the future to any future owners.
1.To build condos where the three cabins now stand.
2,Building condos across the street where the garage now stands and adjacent property.
3.Granting a liquor license to the new owners now or in the future.
4.The possibility of additio�al condos or a baz being build anywhere on the property.
5.With additional condos comes additional boat docks or as the condo association calis
them"Dockominium"with boat slips cut into the natural shore line.
Our questions aze:
What does a"conditional use application or permit"allow to be done on the property and
what controls and restrictions aze in place?
Are there plans to cut into the shore line or embankment as has been done on several
properties down Lake Drive in the past? By permitting new land owners to clear the
land,for better view of the lake and adding additional boat docks. This is what causes
erosion to get started as we have seen down from our property.
What are the plans for the three cabins on the property,will they be torn down for condos
or leave them as rentals with the owners not living in the area to monitor what goes on
and who comes and goes.
Will the property across the road from the(odge be included with the sale and will
condos be permitted to be built either now or in the future?
With the sale of the property will the liquor license be renewed or revoked? We do not
want to see another bar being built on the property.
This is a residential azea to raise your families and/or retire in,with the peace and quite
and beauty of the area another bar and too maay condo buildings will threaten this. The
thought of the woods being tom down to build high rise condo buildings is not something
we waited for retirement to look at.
As stated we do not object to the current lodge and bar being turned into condos but we
do object any other buildings being build on the property.

Dear Mr. Butterbaugh:
I have recently been made aware that three living areas have been created within the
"lodge" building—Unit#5 as indicated on the condominium plat. The Sawyer County
Zoning Ordinance defines a"DWELLING LTNIT" as: "A building or portion thereof
with rooms arranged, designed, used or intended to be used for one family.
Guesthouses with kitchen and bathroom facilities; and any accessory structures with a
HABITABLE LIVING AREA are considered to be dwelling units. Houseboats and
watercraft on land shall not be used as DWELLINGS or DWELLING UNITS." It is
my understanding that these living areas qualify as dwelling units per the ordinance
definition.
These additional lodge units within the lodge cannot be created within the provisions of
the Sawyer County Zoning Ordinance for the following reasons:
• The shoreline frontage (455.97') allows only for the creation of four
units total.
• The total land area of the condominium (89,907 square feet) also allows
for the creation of only four units total. Please note, the fact that the
condominium was created with five units (four existing and one
proposed) is not an issue. The proposed unit #4 may be built per the
plat and Section 4.423(3) CONDOMINIUMS, Sawyer County Zoning
Ordinance.
Based on my interpretation of the ordinance requirements,the lodge must be converted
to its original condominium platted purpose—a single condominium unit.Please
contact me by Monday,September 26,2005 so that we can discuss this situation.

Several associates and I are considering the purchase of Lakeview Resort (a.k.a. Grinstone Lake
Condominiums) on Grindstone Lake. The resort includes three separate cabins, a lodge building
that currently has three separate living units, and a garage. The condo documents for the
Grindstone Lake Condominiums, which were filed on 4/14/03, show five condo units— each of
the three cabins as a separate unit, the lodge as one unit, and the garage (with a possible future
living unit attached) as a fifth unit. I have attached an exhibit from the condo documents that
shows the layout of the property and the five units.
Our desire is to have six or seven separate condominium units within the existing buildings. We
would not build the proposed living unit next to the garage. We would simply have the three
cabins and three or four units in the existing lodge. So, we are basically just looking to divide up
the property a little differently than what is shown on the current condo documents.
Hence, my questions are as follows:
• Would we be allowed to amend the condo documents to reflect six or seven units as
described above?
• Would we be allowed to add a fourth living unit within the confines of the existing lodge?
