JEFF JOHNSON ON 11/23/16, AT APPROXIMATELY 2337 HRS, I WAS TRAVELING WEST ON STH 77 NEAR EATON RD. I OBSERVED A LONE EASTBOUND VEHICLE TRAVELING AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE OF SPEED. MY RADAR SHOWED THE VEHICLE'S SPEED AT 110 MPH IN THE POSTED 55 MPH ZONE. AS THE VEHICLE PASSED ME, I BEGAN PULLING ONTO THE SHOULDER TO EXECUTE A U-TURN IN AN ATTEMPT TO CATCH UP TO AND STOP THE VEHICLE. WHILE BEGINNING MY U-TURN, I WATCHED IN MY DRIVER SIDE MIRROR AS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO NEGOTIATE THE RIGHT CURVE JUST EAST OF EATON RD, ENTERING THE DITCH ON THE NORTHEAST SIDE OF STH 77. I DIDN'T SEE THE BRAKE LIGHTS ON UNTIL THE VEHICLE WAS ALREADY ENTERING THE DITCH, AND THEN THE BRAKE LIGHTS ONLY FLASHED FOR A SECOND. I COMPLETED MY U-TURN, REQUESTED ADDITIONAL UNITS AND AN AMBULANCE. UPON LOCATING THE VEHICLE, I FOUND THE (THRU INVESTIGATION, I LEARNED ONLY OCCUPANT) DRIVER HAD BEEN EJECTED THRU THE WINDSHIELD AND WAS LEANING FACE DOWN AGAINST THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE QUARTER PANEL. THE DRIVER WAS DECEASED ALREADY UPON MY ARRIVAL. AFTER TAKING PICTURES AND MEASUREMENTS, I DETERMINED THE VEHICLE BEGAN SKIDDING CLOCKWISE SO THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE WAS FACING IN THE DIRECTION OF THE SKID. THE LIFT GATE OF THE SUV OPENED UP AT SOME POINT AND SHEERED OFF THE TOP PORTION OF A TREE APPROXIMATELY 4 INCHES IN DIAMETER (LABELED T1 IN THE DIAGRAM). THE VEHICLE THEN CONTINUED ANOTHER APPROXIMATELY 13 FEET WHEN THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WHEEL AREA STRUCK ANOTHER TREE APPROXIMATELY 1.5 FEET IN DIAMETER (LABELED T3 ON THE DIAGRAM). AT THAT POINT, THE VEHICLE BEGAN SPINNING COUNTERCLOCKWISE AND CAME TO REST APPROXIMATELY 26 FEET FURTHER, WHERE IT STRUCK A GROUP OF TREES. FROM WHERE THE VEHICLE LEFT ON 11/23/16, AT APPROXIMATELY 2337 HRS, I WAS TRAVELING WEST ON STH 77 NEAR EATON RD. I OBSERVED A LONE EASTBOUND VEHICLE TRAVELING AT AN EXTREMELY HIGH RATE OF SPEED.
